2014 initial accreditation as certification body by the BMWFW

Initial accreditation of the laboratory as certification body according to EN ISO/IEC 17065 by the Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy.

2011 initial accreditation as inspection body by the BMWFJ

Initial accreditation of the laboratory as inspection body according to EN ISO/IEC 17020 by the Federal Ministry for Economy, Family and Youth.

2009 change of shareholders

In december 2009 the TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft AG took over all shares of Wasser Tirol, also the shares who were hold by the Innsbrucker Kommunalbetriebe thus they became sole owners of Wasser Tirol. The TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft AG is wholly-owned by the Land Tirol.

2008 initial accreditation as test laboratory by the OIB

Initial accreditation of the laboratory as test laboratory by the Österreichisches Institut für Bautechnik.

2006 Purchase environmental laboratory and initial accreditation as inspection body by the BMWFJ

Purchase of the former Building Materials Testing Institute Ötztal located in Ötztal-Bahnhof and initial accreditation for test processes in the chemistry/bacteriology department according to EN ISO/IEC 17025 with the identification number 0249 (GZ: BMWFJ-92.714/0149-I/12/2006) by Akkreditierung Austria, Federal Ministry for Economy, Family and Youth.

2005 Accession to Kompetenznetzwerk Wasser

Participation in KNET Wasser – Competence network water resources and their management; supervision of the „Alpine Wasserwirtschaft“ node.

2003 Foundation

The Wasser Tirol – Wasserdienstleistungs-GmbH started its business in September 2003 as a regional center of competence. The widespread range of services is dedicated to the water economy, but also for local communities, waste-water and water associations or state and authorities. In the rapid changing climate of the water policy’s framework conditions towards to a liberalization of the market the following aims should be achieved:

  • Maintenance of the water infrastructure under control of the state Tyrol
  • No loss of water policy value added or purchasing power to other countries
  • Maintenance of the ecological and social stability in Tyrol
  • Improvement and promotion of environmental protection

To successfully fulfill these tasks, Wasser Tirol will concentrate its comprehensive knowledge and its extensive experience in the field of water resource management.

Previous to Wasser Tirol

Previous to the foundation of the Wasser Tirol the Tyrolean water-management-concept containing the unique register of springs was elaborated. Furthermore with the Water Framework Directive of the European Union there was also an intensive discussion about political and juridical responsibilities and competences in terms of the economic use of the alpine water supply and about the optimum and sustainable management of this very important resource for life and economics.
